On 27 March 2025, the third session of the ROADVIEW webinar series on Connected, Cooperative, and Automated Mobility (CCAM) brought together around 40 international experts to explore the challenges and innovations in automated vehicle (AV) perception during adverse weather.
The session focused on robust, cost-effective perception and decision-making systems for AVs, particularly in difficult weather and complex traffic environments. The webinar was moderated by the ROADVIEW coordinator, Eren Aksoy (HH), and consisted of three presentations from experts in the field Sergio Fernandez (Valeo), Jyri Maanpää (FGI), and Petri Manninen (FGI), who presented cutting-edge solutions ranging from dense point cloud processing to real-time road grip measurements and high-definition mapping techniques. A thorough discussion was held on a range of technical subjects, including 3D LiDAR point cloud denoising, the fusion of RGB, LiDAR, and thermal camera sensors, and semantics-aware mapping and localization.
