ROADVIEW Demonstration 2 Validates Automated Driving in Winter Conditions

The ROADVIEW project has successfully completed Demonstration 2, showcasing advanced automated driving technologies operating in real-world winter conditions in Finnish Lapland.

The demonstration focused on validating the integration and performance of key ROADVIEW innovations on an automated vehicle platform. Tested functionalities included weather and environmental state estimation, HD map-based localisation, cooperative perception through vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication and weather-aware decision-making supporting safe automated driving.

Using VTT’s automated vehicle equipped with state-of-the-art sensor systems and advanced algorithms, project partners evaluated how these technologies perform in challenging winter scenarios on both a test track and public roads. The results confirmed successful system integration and reliable operation of all components, enabling safe automated driving in harsh weather conditions.

A series of videos captures the demonstration scenarios and highlights ROADVIEW technologies operating in real winter environments.
