The fourth ROADVIEW webinar, held on 17 April 2026, focused on X-in-the-Loop (XiL) testing and its role in advancing the development and validation of automated driving and ADAS systems. The session is now available as a recording, providing concise insights into current research and industrial applications.
The webinar opened with an introduction by Assoc. Prof. Eren Erdal Aksoy of Halmstad University, who framed XiL as a key enabler for scalable and efficient validation processes.
Jinjong Lee from Techways Europe Tech-Lab presented developments in XiL test benches, highlighting standalone HILS I/O solutions and AI-supported test case automation to improve testing efficiency and reproducibility.
Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Reza Rezaei from IAV GmbH, together with Dr. Dai Araki from Toshiba Corporation, discussed AI-based virtual validation and homologation, outlining how artificial intelligence can support certification processes for future AD and ADAS systems.
Maikol Drechsler from the CARISSMA Institute of Automated Driving introduced the ROADVIEW weather-aware XiL test environment, demonstrating how weather variability can be integrated into validation workflows.
The session concluded with an open Q&A, addressing implementation challenges and future directions for XiL methodologies. We would like to thank all speakers and participants for their valuable contributions and engagement. The webinar recording is now available for those interested in the latest developments in automated driving validation.
